ABOUT CEDAR CREEK
Cedar Creek was built in the early part of the 20th century. Originally a house, it belonged to a ranching family who owned the surrounding acres of land which now make up the neighborhood in the heart of South Austin. This unique setting is hard to find these days, especially in Austin. You feel like you are away at a cabin on a ranch in the country, but if you drive 3-5 minutes away you will find everything you could possibly need...coffee shops, markets, restaurants, and more.
In the late '70s it became a music studio, originally called "Ruff Cedar", but in 1982 it changed hands and became Cedar Creek. Since then the studio has hosted an extensive list of artists:
The Chicks (The Dixie Chicks), Sugar, Joe Ely, Jimmy LaFave, Ben Kweller, Uncle Tupelo, Kris Kristofferson, Ray Wiley Hubbard, Alejandro Escovedo, Grupo Fantasma, Shawn Colvin, Slaid Cleaves, Pat Green, Randy Rogers Band, Jerry Jeff Walker, Cotton Mather, Sam Baker, Lonnie Mack, The Reivers
UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT
In early 2022 the studio turned over its management to the very capable and talented hands of producer/engineer/multi-instrumentalist, André Moran. For 18 years he worked as the chief engineer at the legendary Congress House Studio alongside producer/engineer/multi-instrumentalist Mark Hallman. Together they formed a production dream team and made countless records come to life. André also produced numerous artists in that space.
